The Mobile Youth Health Center Clinic Driver will provide clinical and administrative assistance to the Mobile Clinic Staff in scheduling, registering and managing patients. In addition, this position is responsible to drive the Mobile Clinic to and from the designated areas, assisting in the delivery of treatment to patients and assisting in the maintenance of the vehicle

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drives the mobile clinic to and from the designated areas, complying with all motor vehicle codes and regulations.

  • Assists in maintaining the Mobile Clinic vehicle by providing minor mechanical, preventative maintenance functions.

  • Provides cleaning services of vehicle as directed.

  • Report minor mechanical preventative maintenance needs to Mobile Services Coordinator

  • Prepares the mobile clinic to receive patients and visitors. Sets up Vision or other equipment as needed.

  • Turns on and off all necessary equipment (autoclave, water, compressor, x-ray processor, etc.) at the beginning and end of each day.

  • Assists in operatory equipment maintenance through proper cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of all equipment and instruments.

  • Escorts students to and from van to school building.

  • Assist in patient intake (creates patient account, inputs all patient / billing information into Electronic Health Record / Dentrix database / scan records into database.

  • Schedules mobile clinic patients and confirms all appointments. Ensures that cancelled slots are filled in with other patients or extended work.

  • Communicates daily and directly with patients, physicians, school district and patient care staff throughout the Medical / Dental Van Clinics and the Hospital.

  • Familiarizes self with each patient and their scheduled treatment and in order to be fully prepared to assist the clinic staff.

  • Provides outreach services as necessary for smooth operation of Mobile Medical / Dental Services.

  • Provide cleaning services after each daily use of vehicle as directed.

  • Analyze problem situations, and respond appropriately to provide reasonable solutions. Report problem and actions to Mobile Services Coordinator.

  • Respond appropriately to patients and families or significant others that are exhibiting aggressive behavior, according to network policy.

  • Acts as driver and supervises use of health vans to health fairs and parades during evenings and weekends, as assigned.

  • Must travel to other sites as needed

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Valid drivers license required for travel to other sites

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Individual must be able to meet established specific physical requirements of the job, sitting for up to eight (8) hours/day, four (4) hours at a time; standing for up to five (5) hours/day, 4 hours at a time. Frequent handling and firm gripping in moving equipment; occasionally fingering and twisting/turning. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and walking of objects weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance. Frequent squatting, and kneeling, occasional stooping/bending, crouching, and reaching above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision and color vision, and depth perception.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate with mechanical abilities and strong customer service skills. Some health care experience and bilingual skills preferred.
