Lilly is investing over $1 billion to create a new state-of-the-art manufacturing site, in Concord, North Carolina. The brand-new facility will utilize the latest technology to increase the company's manufacturing capacity in parenteral (injectable) medications, device assembly and packaging operations. What You’ll Be Doing :

You will be part of Tech at Lilly MQ (Manufacturing and Quality), an organization that drives manufacturing operational excellence and productivity efforts through utilization of technology. Tech at Lilly MQ strives to enable the making of medicine “with safety first and quality always”.

As System Architect-Application you will be responsible for the IT architecture for the Concord site, ensuring the availability, reliability, performance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the IT architecture. Your major function is to design, develop and maintain IT architecture solutions (integrated process, applications, data and technology) to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards. You will use your technical expertise, analytical skills, and leadership abilities to create key components for these systems, evaluate different technologies, and work closely with other members of the IT team to ensure that the systems are implemented correctly and effectively.

How You’ll Succeed:

  • Must ensure the compatibility, integration, interoperability, stability, scalability and usability of products/services proposed as standards to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies. Establishes monthly goals measures and monitors how these are being met.

  • Troubleshoots issues that arise in conjunction with global support groups. Looks for root causes and often-repeated issues to prevent these from happening again. Promotes a zero unplanned downtime culture and look for technical ways to minimize planned downtimes.

  • Must serve as a technical expert on solutions design, development, and implementation requirements to address business needs.

  • Must be able to evaluate the organization's needs, anticipate potential issues, and create key components that ensures the systems and architecture meets the requirements.

  • Must have a strong manufacturing and labs processes understanding and demonstrated business learning agility.

  • Must consider security and privacy risks and design IT systems that are secure and protect company data.

  • Must have Strong Analytical and Problem-solving skills.

  • Must be able to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and influence decision making at senior leadership level.

  • Must be able to stay up to date with new technologies and evaluate which ones are best suited for the organization's needs.

  • Maintain IT, Automation, and customers well informed about Life Cycle Management future plans and needs in order for them to be integrated in business planning cycles. Will assure LCM plans are included in the site agenda. Will escalate and provide visibility of any non-compliance related risks.

  • Ensures to follow Cybersecurity aspects, assure equipment are well protected following planned or unplanned patching cycles. Maintain linkage with related Cybersecurity global efforts to assure systems comply.

  • Provides technical direction for project managers, Business System Integrators, analysts, system administrators, programmers, coordinators technicians, and/or contractor personnel in the IT Infrastructure and/or Applications group(s) working in Capital (both major and local) IT projects as well as in Corporate or site projects.

  • Plans and coordinates with the Corporate Systems groups and local groups the introduction of new technologies, methodologies, systems development, and end-user productivity tools.

  • Directs and/or assists in the cost/benefit analysis and justification for new applications and/or technologies.

  • Creates, defines, and maintain IT Road Maps in conjunction with IT Management.

  • Complies with responsibilities outlined in the Global Quality Standards.

What You Should Bring:

  • Experience with designing and developing IT architecture (integrated process, applications, data and technology) solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards.

  • Experience with designing and developing specifications for new products/services, applications, and service offerings.

  • Experience with ensuring the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies.

  • Broad and deep technical knowledge and experience across varying software infrastructure requirements, development, design, and re-engineering.

  • Experience with identifying system requirements, such as performance, scalability, security, compatibility, interoperability, stability, usability and ensure that these requirements are met within the overall system architecture.

  • Experience with identifying technical risks that could impact the system's functionality or security.

  • Experience with providing technical guidance to other members of the organization, including analyst, engineers, and technical support staff.

  • Staying up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure that the organization's systems remain competitive and effective.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders and articulate complex technical concepts.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Experience with Computer System Validations.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience working with Manufacturing and Quality Systems in a Pharma GMP environment.

Additional Preferences:

  • Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • Exposure to international operations, diverse teams, global IT projects, or working in a global organization.

  • Previous Agile experience.

  • Systems/Solution Architect certification.

Other Information:

  • Role is Monday through Friday and based on-site. Must be flexible in providing support to accommodate other inputs (production schedules, shutdowns, etc.). Occasional extended hour and / or off-hour work may be required.

  • Position will be based out of the Concord, NC site with ability to travel to Indianapolis and other global Lilly sites as required.
