Commander, Navy Installations CYP Child and Youth Program Maintenance Worker in Fallon, Nevada

Summary The position is assigned to Nonappropriated (NAF) Child and Youth Program (CYP); Fleet Readiness; Commander,Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Naval Air Station Fallon. Incumbent serves as a Maintenance Worker performimg a variety of maintenance, repair, and operational duties. Learn more about us at https://www.navycyp.org Responsibilities Performs work in two or more trade practices associated with occupations such as plumbing, carpentry, and painting. Plumbing Makes plumbing repairs that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, resealing, replacing defective parts or units of utility, supply, and disposal systems, such as dirty traps, sections of broken tile, damaged or broken pipes, leaky faucets, and stopped up drains. Installs water heaters, garbage disposal units, faucets, and sinks. Carpentry Measures, cuts, and constructs or repairs wood or wood substitute items such as scaffolds, staging parts, panels, bins, pallets, concrete forms, dry walls, sheathing, and roof decking. Painting Performs standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying, by the use of coating materials that are prepared according to specific directions, and by the application of coating techniques that ensure surfaces are fuI1y coated, protected, and free from drips and runs. Additional Responsibilities Assists staff members by asking questions to determine, verify, and solve problems; resolves problems quickly; and alerts supervisor or proper point of contact for assistance when issues arrive. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Observes required safety, sanitation and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Drives motor vehicles to transport tools and materials to and from work site using Government owned vehicles. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. A qualified candidate possesses the following: Knowledge in the applicable combination of trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, and/or painting) sufficient to perform the duties of the position. Knowledge of safe work practices including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment, use of hazardous materials and chemicals, fall protection standards, and all related OSHA safety standards. Skill in basic math and reading. Ability to provide customer service with a high level of professionalism. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Education *Must provide a copy of your H.S. Diploma, GED, or College Transcripts (showing degree awarded/conferred) when you apply. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. *Note: If your degree has not been awarded and/or you possess certificates of completion for DoD approved competency-based training courses, and/or a valid CDA/MSA credential(s), you MUST also provide a copy of your HS Diploma or equivalent. All individuals involved in the provision of child care services on a Department of Navy (DON) installation or in a DON-sanctioned program must complete the Installation Records Check (IRC). The IRC includes a check of the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP) records in the Alcohol and Drug Management Information Tracking System (ADMITS) database, a check of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) records in the Fleet and Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS), and an installation security/base check via the Navy Justice Information System (NJIS) database and/or other law enforcement systems. This information will be used to determine suitability for the applicant in accordance with criteria for automatic and presumptive disqualifiers, per DoDI 1402.05.Per Per Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1402.05 Background Checks on Individuals in DoD Child Care Services Programs, incumbents will be automatically disqualified for a conviction in either civilian or military court (to include any general, special, or summary court-martial conviction or if they received non-judicial punishment [under Article 15 or chapter 47 of Title 10, U.S.C]) for any of the following: a sexual offense, any criminal offense involving a child victim, or a felony drug offense. Additionally, the incumbent will be automatically disqualified if he/she has been held to be negligent in a civil adjudication or administrative proceeding concerning the death of or serious injury to a child or dependent person entrusted to the individual's care. Non-U.S. citizens with fewer than three years of recent residential history in the U.S. may be determined ineligible for employment. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required.
