MD Anderson Cancer Center Patient Care Technician - 3pm-11pm - P12/G22W GU/Breast/General Internal Medicine in Houston, Texas

The Patient Care Technician position on this unit provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse, and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.

Ideal candidate must have a high school diploma and either one year of recent experience in an acute care setting as a Nursing Assistant or a CNA certification.

The ideal candidate will work 3pm-11pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

A 30-bed inpatient unit providing care to adult medical oncology inpatients with a diagnosis of solid tumor malignancies; primary services include genitourinary, breast, and internal medicine. Patients require nursing interventions for the management of chronic and acute disease related symptoms, pain control, treatment related side effects; chemotherapy and biotherapy administration: patient and family teaching.

Essential Job Functions:

Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
