Position Summary:

Arkansas State University (A-State) is recruiting applicants for the position of Temporary Instructor of Music with Duties in

Music Education/Bands (one year), beginning August 16, 2024

In support of the mission of the Department of Music, A-State is seeking applicants to join a music department recognized

throughout the region for artistic excellence and student success. The successful candidate will be a collaborative music educator and

will assist with instrumental music education program

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Temporary Instructor of Music will:

  • Serve as Coordinator of Instrumental Music Education

  • Conduct Symphonic Winds

  • Teach additional courses in music education

  • Assist with other duties such as supervision of student interns as determined by the qualifications of the candidate

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required or applicable to the position responsibilities and area of specialization, including special abilities.

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Preferred Qualifications:

• University level teaching experience in instrumental music education

• Doctorate in Music or comparable professional experience

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Master’s Degree in music with at least one (1) degree in music education is required.

Three (3) years in teaching at the K-12 and/or university level.
