SOUTH SUMMIT SCHOOL DISTRICT HEAD SCHOOL CUSTODIAN in KAMAS, Utah

Education/Qualifications:

•     Requires High School diploma, GED or equivalent and four years of directed custodial experience with demonstrated competence. Supervisory and training skills required.

•     Requires mechanical aptitude in plumbing, electrical, general and mechanical repairs.

•     Requires ability to organize and direct the activities of a small custodial staff.

•     Requires ability to problem solve within established guidelines.

·       Requires ability to recognize safety hazards that need attention.

·       Requires ability to solve a variety of problems with building and fixtures (e.g. broken values, plugged drains, broken floor tiles and equipment malfunctions).

·       Requires ability to service, clean and store cleaning and maintenance equipment.

·       Requires knowledge of computers which run equipment.

·       Requires knowledge of safety procedures (e.g. MSDS, blood borne pathogens, health codes, risk management).

·       Must have effective interpersonal skills.   Interacts with students, co-workers, other school staff and others who use the school facilities.

Essential Functions:

•    Perform and schedule general cleaning tasks for a medium-sized elementary school building.

•    Perform major summer cleaning of the building.

•    Submit work orders to District Office for major or special repairs.

•    Maintain building and surrounding grounds (e.g. watering, fertilizing, trimming, mowing, etc.)

•     Provide support to assist with building rentals, activities, performances, and sport activities.

•    Maintain necessary custodial records (e.g. orders, requests, payroll, and work schedules).

•    Clear snow and ice in wintertime, keeping walks and ramps clear.

•    Responsible for performing weekend checks to ensure safety and security of buildings.

•     Responsible for fire alarms and enforcement of fire codes.

•    Attend all scheduled training and departmental meetings.

•    This position requires punctual and regular daily attendance.
