David Hirschberg Steel & Recycling Co., a well established 111 year old Cincinnati company, has been serving the Tri-State Area since 1913, is looking for a Skilled General Laborer. This is a non-seasonal, Full-Time employment opportunity. The ideal candidate should be safety minded and safety conscious at all times, have a basic understanding of common hand tools, power tools, and simple machinery. The selected individual will be required to become a trained and licensed Forklift Operator and Skid-Steer Operator. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: The skilled General Laborer shares varied responsibilities within the company. Your primary responsibility will be working with the scarp recycling crane operators to ensure and maintain a clean and safe working area for customers and employees alike. You will have a shared responsibility to manage and direct traffic flow in and out of the scrap recycling area. This position requires good communication and customer service skills. You will be required to be trained and licensed as a Forklift Operator, and become a certified Skid-Steer Operator. You will share responsibility for performing daily equipment pre-operation inspections, basic maintenance, and small repairs. Familiarity and experience with hand tools and handheld power tools is required. Experience in the scrap steel and metals recycling industry is very desirable, but we will train the right candidate.

Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30am until 4:30 pm    Saturday 7:30 am until 11:30 am

Principal Responsibilities

  • Perform daily Pre Operation inspections of the equipment within the Scrap Recycling Division in accordance with company policy.
  • Safely and efficiently operate equipment that may include but not limited to forklift and / or skid-steer.
  • Assist customers and co-workers with loading and unloading materials either by hand or with a forklift.
  • Assist managing the safe flow of customer traffic in and out of the scrap recycling area.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Have the physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Posses good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Have problem solving skills and maintaining a "Team Player" attitude is critical
  • Good follow through ability; having the ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as the arise.
  • Has the ability adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the company's safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.
  • Maintains a feeling of pride in work; strives to achieve all goals, works well with others, has good communication skills, and promotes a safe work environment.
