Position: Night Custodian  --Lynden High School -- Leave Replacement

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• Able to be proactive: See facility conditions or situations that should be addressed and correct them or bring them to the attention of supervisor
• Able to communicate effectively with adults and children, be tactful, cooperate with others, use good judgement and work as a member of a team, possess good people skills.
• Able to perform all job responsibilities
• Time management skills and the ability to stick to a schedule
• Current First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain certification

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs general cleaning and maintenance of school facility including but not limited to sweep, scrub, mop, wax, and polish all types of floors; vacuums rugs and carpets, clean restrooms and classroom counters and sinks, remove trash. All basic cleaning tasks are required to maintain the school building, grounds, etc.
• Maintain building security by ensuring all doors and windows are secure, unauthorized occupants have exited the building.
• Maintain knowledge regarding emergency situations for water shut off gas, earthquake, lockdown, electrical, fire, etc.
• Clean up spills (including bodily fluids) in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Respond to requests of faculty to provide assistance for moving equipment/furniture
• Set up and take down for special events
• Ability to safely lift 50 pounds repeatedly
• Ability to safely maneuver power and manual cleaning tools and carry and use a backpack vacuum cleaner for extended periods of time
• Ability to bend, twist and reach shelves, lights, and areas over one's head
• Performs rigorous and extensive cleaning of facilities during the summer

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

*Work Year: * 2023-2024 School Year

*Hours: * 8 hours per day; 2:30 p.m. -- 11:00 p.m.; Monday through Friday -- April 15, 2024-June 20, 2024

Starting Date:  As Soon As Possible

Salary: $25.24 - $31.95 depending on previous school district custodian experience

Benefits: This position is not eligible for benefits.
