We’re on the lookout for a talented and passionate Mobile Engineering Manager to help build the next wave of capabilities of our personal AI, Copilot. We’re looking for someone with an abundance of positive energy, empathy, and kindness, in addition to being highly effective. The right candidate takes the initiative and enjoys building world-class consumer experiences and products in a fast-paced environment.

Our newly formed organization, Microsoft AI (MAI), focuses on Copilot and other consumer AI products and research. The wider team is responsible for Copilot, Bing, Edge, and generative AI research, while the Mobile Engineering team is responsible for leading and building the mobile experience of Copilot on iOS and Android, collaborating closely with our Product Management, Design and AI Research teams. This role requires a balance of technical skills and effective people management skills.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience building consumer-grade applications, coding in languages including, but not limited to, Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in managing, leading, and inspiring a team of engineers, including hiring, retaining, and managing performance.

  • Working knowledge of mobile application architecture, design patterns, and UI/UX principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • Contributions to open-source projects.

  • Experience with streaming media.

  • Experience building iOS applications from scratch.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.

  • Passion for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in mobile development and AI.

  • Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
