LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry, Department of Prosthodontics is seeking motivated applicants for the title of WAE Dental Program Coordinator. This is a temporary appointment.Applicants applying to this announcement should be aware that this is a part-time WAE (when actually employed) position, and shall not exceed 1245 hours in a 12-month period.
Starting rate of pay is dependent upon on the applicants’ qualifications.
Pre-employment Drug testing and Criminal Background check are required.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience as a dental assistant or dental hygienist.

To plan, develop, and coordinate an extensive dental health program for students, patients and residents.

Advanced.
Supervision Received:
Broad review from an employee or agency official of higher level.
Supervision Exercised:
Functional or direct line over direct care providers and/or paraprofessional dental personnel.
Location of Work:
Department of Health and Hospitals; Louisiana State University Medical Center.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from related jobs by responsibility for coordinating and overseeing the operation of a dental program.
Examples of Work
Plans, conducts, evaluates, and maintains records and reports on dental health education programs for patients, residents and students.
Plans and implements dental health education programs by lecturing, demonstrations, and the utilization of a variety of teaching tools.
Conducts preliminary dental examinations to assess dental needs of large numbers of patients selected for dental education.
Prepares dental charts.
Instructs patients and personnel in dental health techniques.
Rates students in one of three levels of dental classification.
Requisitions program materials such as commercial films.
Establishes priorities for dental health education activities.
Lectures and participates in formalized training programs relevant to all functions in assisting a dentist.
