Summary This AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER (INSTRUCTOR) position is located in the Air Operations Group of an ANG flying wing assigned heavy multi-engine transport aircraft with a basic crew configuration of one pilot, one copilot and one loadmaster and is part of the CA 146 AW. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-10, is to be primarily responsible for providing ground and flight training instruction for developing, upgrading, and evaluating the skills of loadmaster aircrew members; assisting the pilot in the operation of the aircraft; performing loadmaster duties on assigned missions; and accomplishing related staff work. This sole enlisted crewmember is assigned significant additional preflight, in-flight and post flight duties. Typical missions assigned the unit include the airlift of equipment and personnel, combat airdrop, medical evacuation, polar operations, search and rescue, fire fighting, special operations, combat aircrew training, formal school, and counter drug intelligence and reconnaissance. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. AREA II= Current California National Guard members. Military Grades: E-3 through E-6 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Qualifications General Experience: Possess experience in functions such as preparing aircraft loading plans, loading and offloading aircraft, operating loading equipment, and ensuring security of cargo in flight. AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-10: Must have at least 18 months experience providing actual formal classroom instruction and on-the-job experience through flying simulated or real world missions; Experience providing direct assistance to the aircraft Pilot; Experience reviewing aircraft maintenance documentation and ensures aircraft maintenance status complies with the command operating restrictions and the applicable flight manual; Experience computing weight and balance to determine proper weight distribution and provides timely and correct takeoff and landing data; Experience supervising load placement, cargo inspection and acceptance, load distribution, and restraint requirements.
