These are laborer positions needed seasonally by the Parks Maintenance Division of the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department.

Job Details

Application Review Process: This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum requirements listed below to be eligible for consideration.

Duration: This is a seasonal laborer position in the Parks Maintenance Division that is expected to last March - November of 2024.

Pay Rate: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Essential Duties:

  • Aerate, fertilize, top-dress, over-seed, spray herbicide.

  • Operate trucks, four wheelers, or small tractors.

  • Assist in irrigation system repair.

  • Assist other crew members as needed/directed and perform other related work as required.

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Sufficient knowledge, training, and/or experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the job.

  • A v alid, lawful driver license.

  • State of Utah Pesticide Applicator License must be obtained within one month of hire.

Hours: Normally 10 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch. Actual schedule determined by supervisor.

Physical/Environmental Factors: This work requires strenuous physical labor, walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 70 pounds), and exposure to adverse weather conditions and some pesticides. Applicant must have the physical strength and agility to perform the work.

Pre-employment Screening: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and criminal background investigation. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of 6 months.
