Under limited supervision the Senior Federal Contracts Financial Analyst role encompasses the full life cycle analysis and reporting for departmental and contractual financial performance. Employees in this job class take a principal role in contract financial planning, analysis and reporting, as well as, providing Program Managers with the financial leadership required for successful contract performance. Additionally, financial leadership is required for assigned Department managers regarding budgeting and variance analysis and the needed interaction and resolution of issues. This job class requires the ability to interface with a variety of people and organizations both internal and external and requires a working knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).


    • Performs monthly account and contract analysis identifying trends and proactively working with Program Managers Contract Administrators and Operations to ensure positive performance results. These activities may be through formal presentations at Program Management Reviews or through informal management briefings and discussions.
    • Works closely with Program Managers on assigned contract's Estimate At Completion (EAC) calculations including Actual Cost accumulation and Estimate to Complete (ETC).
    • Performs monthly financial closing activities as required.
    • Prepares financial analysis and reporting for senior management.
    • Liaison between Corporate Finance, Divisional Management, Program Management, Contract Administration and Operations concerning financial matters.
    • Owns and addresses day to day financial issues for assigned contracts.
    • Responsible for ensuring Actual Costs are appropriately being charged to assigned contracts and departments regarding CAS and FAR and PRIDE's Disclosure Statement.
    • For assigned contracts and departments performs financial planning activities including the collection of data needed for the development of the annual operating budget and routine forecasts and any resulting variance analysis.
    • Prepares and tracks program performance to budget and forecasts, performs monitoring on long-term planning including initiating out of tolerance recovery actions when necessary.
  1. Interacts with internal and external auditors during periodic audits.

  2. Supports Bid and Proposal activities for assigned contracts. Assists in the development of Basis of Estimates, assists in pricing, cash flow analysis, break even analysis and financial risk analysis.

  3. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Five or more years' experience in government contracting financial planning and analysis including a knowledge of project management in a service environment;

  • Demonstrated proficiency with analytical assessment, problem solving and analytical skills; including basic mathematical skills such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Contract Management and Cost Accounting practices related to government contracts;

  • Knowledge of, CAS and FAR;

  • High level of computer literacy, knowledge of Microsoft Office products including advanced Excel skills;

  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, database and presentation software;

  • Proactive change agent with demonstrated experience in identifying process inadequacies and working with others to provide and assist in implementing innovative solutions;

  • Effective multi-tasker, able to demonstrate ability to handle changing work assignments, schedules and priorities;

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written); ability to drive communications, meetings, presentations and other exchanges to groups in a professional environment;

  • Accepts ownership of assigned financial areas and meets deadlines on all assigned projects;

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by management, team, vendors and/or customers;

  • Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and internal customers;

  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;

  • Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation;

  • Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business problems;

  • Demonstrated customer service, common sense, problem solving and analytical skills;

  • Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.

Work is performed in a normal office environment with limited privacy and some exposure to background noise. Employees may be required to work in excess of 8 hours in a day and/or 40 hours per week.
