Community Involvement Programs Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS) in Saint Paul, Minnesota

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist, you will faciliate the empowerment of individuals with disabilities to achieve their vocational goals and lead fulfilling lives by providing personalized support, inclusive employment planning, skills development, coaching, and guidance within the Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) program.

  • Provide flexible, individualized services to people eligible for the VRS program.

  • Develop competitive, integrated employment opportunities for people supported using person-centered practices, with a commitment to promoting autonomy, dignity, and choice.

  • Assess interests, strengths, abilities, and qualifications of people supported.

  • Support both adults and youth, ages 14-21 yrs old, eligible for VRS in varied settings in the community, including businesses and schools.

  • Develop business relationships, and opportunities to meet business needs in the community and in educational settings.

  • Act as a resource to businesses, coordinating work-based learning opportunities

  • Advise, coach, find resources, and create support plans as necessary to address needs of people supported.

  • Demonstrate expertise in VRS billing and service delivery.

  • Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and resources in the field of vocational rehabilitation, and integrate this knowledge into service delivery.

  • Demonstrate professional oral and written communication.

  • Maintain a caseload of up to 25 people.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of interactions, assessments, and progress towards the individual’s vocational goals; document all services provided in the selected electronic health record within 1 business day.

  • Meet or exceed minimum billing standards; maximize revenue under the VRS program.

  • As a mandated reporter, respond and report all incidents that occur while providing services to protect the health and safety of and minimize risk of harm to the person(s) supported following Accord’s policy.

  • Represent the agency to the people we support, our community partners and external constituents. Serve as a positive role model for other employees.

  • Provide transportation as needed to individuals supported

  • Complete all required and assigned training related to the position

  • Travel throughout the Twin Cities Metropolitan area to job sites and meeting locations; limited overnight travel possible.

  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • Either a two-year degree or commensurate experience in working with individuals with disabilities, along with a High School Diploma or GED.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum experience required:

    ➔ 6 months of vocational rehabilitation supporting (VRS) individuals with disabilities with ACRE certification; OR

    ➔ 1 year of vocational rehabilitation supporting (VRS) individuals with disabilities experience without ACRE certification.

  • Knowledge of VRS systems, including documentation and billing requirements.

  • Strong understanding of person-centered principles and practices, with a commitment to promoting autonomy, dignity, and choice for clients.

  • Bilingual preferred (Somali, Spanish, Hmong).
