Job Description Summary

The Senior Category Manager Capex – NAM is responsible for leading strategic sourcing activities across all aspects of GE Gas Power Spend for Capex Plant & Equipment for their region with potential leverage reach to other geographies. This includes taking strategic ownership of entire category and/or sub-category spend, developing strategies to drive the best pricing and commercial terms. This role will lead total cost of ownership reduction including vendor management, demand management, manufacturing equipment standardization and governance/compliance to deliver savings compared to the investment budget. The Senior Category Manager will report to the Global Category Leader and work with the Regional Site Sourcing team to coordinate sourcing efforts, drive RFQ process and supplier selection for assigned investment projects and execute sourcing initiatives. This will also involve partnering with GE functional stakeholders in Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Supply-Chain, and other functions to drive excellent service levels to the organization.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies within the assigned category, sub-category or investment project spend in region and globally

  • Execute on savings and cash targets

  • Lead projects ranging from $25k to multi-million dollar projects with complex commercial negotiations (pricing, payment terms, T&Cs etc.)

  • Become a go to person for internal customers on all sourcing aspects including vendor management

  • Drive Capex buy standard process

  • Develop strategic suppliers and purchase catalogues to reduce cycle time from demand identification to PO placement

  • Work closely with Operations and Supply chain to initiate, lead and execute demand management initiatives (e.g., manufacturing equipment standardization, catalogue opportunities identification, spare parts and service cost price reduction)

  • Oversee end-to-end Sourcing process: strategy, market analysis, negotiation process (RFXs), supplier selection and contract creation, and buy channel management

  • Drive value through supplier relationship management and regular QBRs

  • Promote best practices, measure and track internal performance, monitor strategy implementation to ensure benefit realization within the assigned category spend

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Sourcing with focus on Capex, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, or equivalent consulting experience

  • Demonstrated ability in leading organizational, process, and culture change

  • Strong experience within the assigned category spend group and complex project commercial negotiations

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future

  • Must be located within an EST (Eastern Standard Time zone) or CST (Central Standard Time) state

  • Ability to travel up to 15% (initially to spend 3-4 weeks at GE Greenville)

Desired Characteristics

  • MBA or Bachelor’s degree in Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Engineering

  • Thought leader, collaborative mindset in working across functional areas

  • Category management / sourcing experience in a multinational company

  • Strong experience in Procurement processes

  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills including solid knowledge of MS Office tools

  • Experience with RFQ implementation and execution

  • Working knowledge of ERP/ SSS systems

  • Demonstrated negotiations skills

  • Aggressive self-starter, fast learner able to handle multiple tasks in parallel

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong track record for implementing change and delivering results

Pay Transparency

The starting base pay range for this position is $125,000 – 166,600. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This posting is expected to close on June 12 , 2024, or thereafter.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
