Louisiana Association for the Blind Assistant Director, LDD in Shreveport, Louisiana
Title: Assistant Director, Laser, Design, and Die (LDD) Department: Laser, Design, and Die Location: 1104 Hawn Avenue, Shreveport, LA Wage Category: Exempt Report To: Director, Laser, Design and Die
Overview: This position plays a crucial role in expanding the market presence within the commercial and military sectors focusing on boat-building entities. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and results-oriented individual with a strong background in manufacturing. Additionally, the position assists the Director, LDD with operations of the Laser, Design, and Die Division.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Operations:
- Assist in directing and planning LDD daily operations.
- Thoroughly monitor finished products, ensuring they meet mandatory requirements and high-quality standards.
- Monitor and direct daily production activities to meet organizational goals and standards.
- Assist in preparing proposals and quotes for military contracts.
- Direct and verify monthly inventories, ensuring accurate records and efficient stock management.
- Ensure that raw material inventories are appropriately maintained to support production needs. Report deficits to the Director, LDD.
- Assist with new product development.

- Represent Louisiana Association for the Blind (L.A.B.) at trade shows, symposiums, and trade organizations, showcasing L.A.B.s products and services.
- Assess the results of trade shows and symposiums to maximize L.A.B.s impact and awareness.
Supervision:
- Assist in ensuring capable and experienced personnel are hired and positioned.
- In the absence of the Director, LDD, conducts the duties as the acting Director, providing leadership and guidance to the LDD team.
Enforce all company policies and guidelines to maintain a compliant and ethical working environment.
Responsible for conducting employee evaluations and monitoring and approving timecards via Paycom.
- Accomplishes manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or a minimum of five years of [manufacturing]{#_Hlk164949865} supervisory experience.
Previous Navy military experience is helpful.
Proficiency in using computer skills including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills,including the ability to effectively communicate with customers.
Must be a self-starter and able to work in a team and independently to complete assignments to completion.
Must be able to work under pressure, and meet deadlines and goals, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
Ability to sit, walk, and stand for prolonged periods.
