JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

The primary responsibility of this position is project development of solar power generation and energy storage projects that support Entergy’s stated sustainability goals of reducing carbon emissions. This includes the development of large utility-scale projects or programs of distribution-scale projects. Responsibilities include managing the development and delivery of projects to which he or she is assigned, with a focus on projects that can achieve project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety and quality. This position is directly responsible for the management and oversight of all front-end loading stages of project development and effective hand-off to an execution project team.

This project manager is responsible for assembling and providing leadership needs of the cross-functional project team, technology understanding and experience, and building an effective relationship with key internal & external individuals.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes safe behavior, in accordance with Company expectations, and adherence to the safety rules on the project.

  • Leads a project development team that is focused on delivering power generation and storage projects that enable the enterprise to meet the stated sustainability commitments. Understands the requirements and contributions of critical team positions and that of the key stakeholders.

  • Organize and lead project teams to develop and execute solar and energy storage projects in accordance with the applicable corporate standards and guidelines. Ensures that team members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles. Navigate the project through the Entergy Stage Gate Process (SGP) and coordinate activities to meet the requirements of Entergy's SGP and associated deliverables (business case, estimates, schedules, gate review deliverables, etc.).

  • Serves as the commercial lead with full understanding of the contractual aspects of projects and the need to create a contracting strategy with an acceptable risk allocation –while delivering cost and schedule certainty and maintaining expected project economic benefits. Lead contract negotiations.

  • Develops and maintains the Project Execution Plan and execute the project in adherence with this plan. Establishes and maintains project documentation. Coordinates the efforts of all project participants, including consultants and contractors. Ensures previous projects' Lessons Learned and applicable industry experience is incorporated into the project execution plan. Manages the project in line with the project budget. Ensures project controls are implemented for effectively managing project scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts and communications in accordance with the applicable corporate standards.

  • Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management as required. Prepares reports and makes presentations to management. Promptly communicates issues to the next level of leadership.

  • Understands the roles of the Utility and regulators in project development and viability. Works closely with the regulatory functions to support the requirement of receiving the necessary certifications.

  • This position is required to support enterprise-wide DIB initiatives across the project team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education & experience required of the position:

  • PM -Bachelor's degree & 0-3 project management experience; or, in lieu of degree, 5 years of project management experience

  • Sr PM - Bachelor's degree & 3 years of project management experience in solar and/or energy storage origination and development; or, in lieu of degree, 7 years of project management experience in solar and/or energy storage origination and development

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:

  • Proficient in project management fundamentals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of the practical application of industry standard design principles, techniques and procedures for the design, construction, commissioning, and operations of solar generation and energy storage facilities.

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of power generation facilities.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position:
