Summary/Objective

The Simulator Maintenance Technician I is responsible for accomplishing the day-to-day maintenance of aircrew training devices.

Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The essential job functions for this position include:

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on simulators, computers, Maintenance Training Devices (MTDs) and other associated Aircrew Training Device (ATD) equipment, to the component level if necessary.

  • Provides full-time customer support regarding operational procedures.

  • Completes maintenance data collection and inspection procedures for required TS equipment.

  • Provides regular and timely feedback on training device status.

  • Monitors and tracks the repair status of inoperative equipment.

  • Maintains maintenance activity logs.

  • Assists the lead technician with collateral duties such as supply, inventory control, and associated administrative functions.

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of discrepancy reports.

``` - Performs trouble analysis and final alignment of multisystem complexes consisting of several complete integrated systems.

  • Accomplishes functional systems tests, interpreting and applying a broad range of technical data.

  • Evaluates operational characteristics of the integrated systems.

  • Suggests changes to improve operation through equipment failure and malfunctions analysis.

  • Completes and maintains prescribed records and maintenance forms.

  • Trains/assists other technicians with lesser training device experience and skill.

  • Recommends design or program changes or modifications in circuitry or hardware to improve simulation or overall operation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required skills and abilities to effectively perform this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to clearly relay both verbal and written information to others.

  • Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and in conjunction with other personnel.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex and non-routine problems.

  • Ability to exercises good judgment and to assume responsibility for accuracy and completeness of work.

  • Ability to repair, overhaul, rebuild, align, and adjust complete multisystem.

  • Ability to apply comprehensive knowledge of all major units of the complete multisystem, to achieve operating specifications.

  • Ability to determine proper sequence of operations and start point in sequential operations to pinpoint areas of malfunction.

  • Extensive practical knowledge of the theories and practices of electronic circuits, computer theory, hydraulic or pneumatic control and power systems, and many other areas covering a wide range of system applications.

``` - Basic knowledge of mathematics, including trigonometry, to calculate power relationships, signal phasing, etc.

  • Ability to interpret drawings for multisystem complexes.

  • Ability to isolate malfunctions of complete multiple integrated systems, and to determine the methods of repair.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a civilian or military basic electronic program are required. BSEE or BSME degree is highly desired.

Preferred Education and Experience

At least one year of experience as a flight simulator technician or equivalent is desired, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex non-routine problems. Experience should include component level test and repair of microprocessor-controlled equipment.

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no authority or responsibility for the supervision of others.

While performing the duties of this job, the teammate is frequently required to talk and hear; to sit, stand or walk; and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls.

The teammate is required to stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods of time on concrete or composition floors. The teammate is frequently required to reach materials above five feet with hands and arms, and to stoop or kneel. The teammate must be able to ingress/egress from the simulator and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. On some assignments, they must climb ladders to 20 to 40 feet. The teammate must have close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Normal color vision is required. The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to loud.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position will be on site at location, state and will require adherence to the Government site hours of operation. This position is a full-time non-exempt position, expected to work 40 hours a week. Typical work hours are Monday - Sunday, 24 hours/day and adjusted to meet established shifts. Occasional overtime may be required as mission dictates. This position may require evening/weekend work and work outside of the Government site hours of operations when needed to support Program needs.

Travel Travels and works at remote sites as required.

Security Clearance Secret Clearance is required.
